More about Alefiyah

Alefiyah (she/her) grew up choreographing dances to her favorite Bollywood songs and formally learned jazz and ballet. She dreamed of a dance community like TDF that was inclusive of her Indian and American identities. In college, she joined a South Asian fusion dance team called PennMasti. During that time, she learned various dance forms, including Bhangra and hip-hop. Dance is the creative and joyful outlet that fuels Alefiyah. As an 8th grade math teacher, dance keeps her grounded and motivated in her educational equity work. She also loves traveling, coffee, and watching tv/movies.
